Blazin' On Through: Blazer + Skinny Jeans

Thursday, November 28, 2013

Happy Thanksgiving!  Even though I haven't celebrated the holiday with actual turkey in over a decade, I'm always still pretty psyched for the family time & feast.  Plus one of our best friend's from college, Jotir, is visiting from San Diego, and it's so fun to see him!  My mama made all the traditional fare, but added in a vegan turkey roast for those of us non-meat-eaters.  Mmmm.

These pieces of jewelry are by far some of my favorite new accessories that I own.  They are so classic, but have a cute twist.  (Seriously, how darling is that "A" ring?!)

Today's outfit is something I'd wear to a family Thanksgiving dinner since it's kind of conservative, yet fashion-y.  (I won't lie to you though -- I intended to dress up all cute today, but I chose to stay in leggings and a sweatshirt for most of the day instead.  Whoops.  But it's okay though, because we were all pretty casual for the bigger part of the day :P)  What did you wear for your Thanksgiving festivities?  Are you going shopping on Black Friday?

Top Coat: Dress + Tights + Boots

Living in Phoenix, I don't get much of a chance to wear the fall staples we all know and love (you know, scarves, tights, flannels, boots, and the like). When we visited Sedona the other week, I got the chance to bust out my fall favorites -- even a coat! Yeah, guys, an actual winter coat (which I happen to be pretty infatuated with, seeing as it's the perfect mix of vintage-y & classic) in Arizona.

Side note: Right before these photos were taken, we had just finished a particularly long hike. Since we had already checked out of our hotel, I was forced to gypsy it by changing my clothes in the car and I had to go without any "sprucing up" ... or even showering (I apologize for the TMI). Oooh, the things bloggers will do for an outfit post and a pretty background, eh?  ;)

I apologize for the mass amounts of photos, but this view in Sedona was waaay too pretty not to share (and share... and share).

Is it too cold now to wear fall fashions where you live? If so, do you have an adorable winter coat to keep warm in? As much as I enjoy a cute coat, I do not miss the extreme winter weather from back in the days when I lived in Ohio. Brrrr. I am freezing just thinking about it!

Life Recap: Sedona Stories

Sunday, November 24, 2013

Last weekend, I had my first whole weekend off since I started my job back in September.  Matt had also just started his new job and I'd recently purchased my new Prius, so a road trip was necessary [obviously].  We headed 100 miles north of Phoenix up to the one of the prettiest places we've ever been: Sedona, Arizona.  And, lucky for you, I'm sharing loads of photos so you can experience the natural beauty too (and yes, the "natural beauty" I'm speaking of is our dog, Dakota, of course ;D].

Try not to judge my hat, please -- It was cold out and it was all I had :(

Sky blue sweatshirt: Old Navy

Black leggings: Old Navy

Nike black & pink tennis shoes: DSW

Have you ever been to Sedona?  It's now one of my favorite places that I've ever been.  During our hikes, we were able to let Dakota off her leash, and just run through the rocks, and be freeeeee.  I'm not sure if that was an illegal move, but since we're such rebels we did it anyway... She was just so happy, skirting around, like a dog should :)
